Ulrich Zwingli: Shepherd Warrior
In the Trailblazers Series!
In a small Swiss village, nestled in the Alps, a young boy was born in the year 1484. By the end of his brief life Ulrich Zwingli would change the religious landscape of his home and the world. Even today he continues to influence countless of people through his life and work.
Zwingli was passionate about the Bible. He was a man of prayer. His faith impacted every area of his life: family, art, music, politics, church, even warfare.
It wasn’t until the last few years of his life that he became a reformer. He fought for truth and righteousness with his mind and pen, he fought for lost souls to hear the good news of Jesus Christ, and at the age of forty-seven, as an army chaplain, he was killed on the battlefield. Even to the last, he continued his life’s passion of caring for the souls of others.
The Shepherd Warrior, Ulrich Zwingli, fought the good fight. With his last strength he voiced his victory: “They can kill the body but not the soul!”
